Liliana Ovalle is a London-based designer and researcher from Mexico City, working at the intersection of design, craft and practice-based research. A graduate of the Royal College of Art, she has run her own practice, Studio Liliana Ovalle, since 2009. Her work spans industry collaborations, including products and installations for Ikea, the MAXXI Museum and Nodus Rugs, alongside independent projects such as collaborative material experimentation with traditional craftswomen in Mexico. Her pieces are held in the permanent collections of SFMoMA, MUAC in Mexico City, and the Museum of Arts and Design in New York.
Alongside her own practice, Liliana has over 15 years of experience in design research as a member of Interaction Research Studio, an interdisciplinary research unit recognised internationally for its inventive research methods and interactive devices that encourage playfulness and exploration.
