Kapela ist ein kleiner Klapptisch. Er ist leicht, kompakt und lässt sich einfach aufklappen. Gefertigt aus gebogenem Aluminiumblech, einer Stange und einem Aluminiumrohr, kommt er ohne Scharniere und Klebstoff aus. Er wird durch Spannung zusammengehalten.
Historisch gesehen erlangten Klapptische im Zusammenhang mit Militärkampagnen, im Haushalt und später mit der Verdichtung von Städten Bedeutung – überall dort, wo Ablageflächen nur vorübergehend benötigt wurden und Stauraum ebenso wichtig war wie Funktionalität. Der kleine Klapptisch ist nicht einfach nur ein verkleinerter Tisch, sondern eine typologische Antwort auf die Vergänglichkeit des Lebens.
Kapela is a small folding table. Designed to be lightweight, compact and easily opened. It is made of bent aluminium sheet, a rod and an aluminium pipe. No hinges, no glue.
It is held by tension.
Historically, folding tables gained prominence alongside military campaigns, domestic service, and later urban densification, contexts where surfaces were needed temporarily and storage volume mattered as much as function. The small folding table is not simply a scaled-down table but a typological response to impermanence.
